Sometimes, dogs just wanna have fun too. That’s why we believe including your furry friend in holiday celebrations every now and then can be so important. This February, bring your dogs out for a Mardi Gras experience like no other! They’ll be (happy) barking about this one for a long, long time. Krewe of Barkus is just a tail wag away!
A Real Treat
We all know dogs love their treats, and we have to say, this might the best of them all! If you want the details, we have those for you right here. This year is the 18th annual Krewe of Barkus event, and as the website states, it’s sure to be a “howling hoot.” This parade-style event is modeled after the famous Mystic Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans and works each year to provide help for dogs who have been abused and abandoned.
It’ll take place on February 23, and the parade starts at 2 p.m. If you are participating in the parade, you’ll need to be there at 12:30 p.m. to check in. It’s not just about the parade, though. This day will also include vendor booths, interactive activities for you and your pup, and more fun things that will all help a good cause. In past years, more than 250 dogs have participated, parading for a crowd of 4,500. Let’s make this the biggest, best one yet!
A Pawsome Day
This year’s theme is next-level pawsome! A Barkus Salute to Popular Music: Puppies Go Pop Star will honor musical idols both modern such as Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, The Backstreet Boys; and throughout history such as Cher, Buddy Holly, Elvis, The Beatles, and Madonna.
Past themes have included A Barkus Salute to Reality TV, The Bark-a-Palooza Tour Around The World, Barkus Gone Bad – A Salute to Our Favorite Villains, Barkus Does Books – A Salute To Our Favorite Characters in Literature, Pooches & Paris – Barkus Salutes All Things French, Barkus Goes Back in Time – Decked Out By Decade, Barkus Gets Animated – From Comic to Cartoons, A Salute to the Characters that Tickle our Funnybones, and All American Barkus – A Salute To Presidents, Pioneers, & Pawtriots.
Make plans to bring your four-legged friends out for some fresh air, good times, and tons of fun!
